Ayoub was transfer-free after he had his contract with the Greek top club Panathinaikos dissolved. The midfielder was still on trial at Fortuna Sittard in recent weeks, but he did not earn a contract there. After good talks, the Moroccan midfielder opted for a two-year contract with Excelsior.
This gives the PhD candidate a wealth of experience at the highest level, which has been diligently sought after in recent weeks. Ayoub eventually played 164 games in the Eredivisie, in which he was accurate 22 times. In the Netherlands he wore the shirt of FC Utrecht and Feyenoord. At the latter club, the counter in two seasons finally got stuck at nineteen games.
Ayoub is the sixth summer addition to Excelsior after Marouan Azarkan, Kenzo Goudmijn, Reda Kharchouch, Nathangelo Markelo and Jacky Donkor.
