The Ministry of Equality announced this Thursday the reinforcement of the state Service 016 for attention to violence against women to serve people in the areas affected by DANA, “within the framework of institutional cooperation and collaboration and with respect to regional powers.
After the carelessness caused by a tweet from the minister where it was seen that Equality was going to exploit the circumstances of DANA, with ‘this is our moment’ written in the minister’s handwriting, the department she directs Ana Redondo sent a statement today in which it explains that the state spotlight is answering all calls from the Valencian Community, since part of the staff of the 24-hour Women’s Centers of the Generalitat Valenciana have been affected by the storm. However, it does not detail whether there is an uptick in calls, a worsening of the situation of a certain volume of women or how many there are, or the aggravating circumstances of sexist violence that could exist in the area, as occurred state level during the confinement due to the pandemic. But the circumstances are reasonably different.
In addition, he added that service 016 has been reinforced with the incorporation of four psychologists with training in sexist violence and preparation in emergency care, with “specialized and updated knowledge of all the available violence against women services in the province of Valencia”. “The objective is to improve the referral of cases that come from victims of sexist violence affected by DANA,” he stressed.
On the other hand, Equality has reported that a “special and individualized monitoring of all women” users of the Atenpro service who are in one of the municipalities affected by DANA is being carried out, to know their status and guarantee their care. At this time, no women will be temporarily discharged from the service. All users in areas affected by DANA will remain registered with Atenpro until normality can be returned, as announced.
In relation to the Cometa service, Igualdad has indicated that special monitoring has been carried out on all devices and people registered in the system in the province of Valencia and who may have been affected by DANA.
The Ministry of Equality, through the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, is carrying out daily monitoring with the gender violence unit of the province of Valencia and its regional coordination unit, as well as with the various institutions involved, to ensure that the needs and circumstances that may arise for victims of violence against women who are in the affected municipalities are attended to and responded to.
Similarly, work is being done in the rest of the autonomous communities affected by the passage of DANA, specifically with the units and resources coordinated by the Government Delegation against Gender Violence.
