A.he brand’s first ever model, the all-electric Ssangyong Korando e-Motion will celebrate its market premiere in Europe in spring 2022, not in its home country of Korea. The promise is 190 hp and a range of 339 kilometers, the battery can store 61.5 kWh of electricity. On direct current columns, the battery should be able to be brought from 20 to 80 percent fill level in a good half an hour. A maximum of 50 kW is charged.
From the outside, the electric Korando hardly differs from its combustion brothers; it also impresses with its “sporty, dynamic appearance with distinctive lines”. Blue color accents and a closed front make up the Korando e-Motion. Of course, the external dimensions are the same as those of its conventionally powered sister models. The electric Korando is 4.45 meters long and can therefore be classified in the compact SUV.
In the interior, no compromises have to be made because of the battery, this is space-saving in the car floor. The trunk holds 551 liters as usual. While the e-Motion only has front-wheel drive, the combustion models are optionally available with all-wheel drive. The SUV was last revised in 2019.
So far, there have been two engine variants on offer, a direct-injection gasoline engine with 163 hp and a maximum torque of 280 Newton meters and a diesel. Both are four-cylinder with 1.5 or 1.6 liter displacement. The diesel engine offers 136 hp, but with 320 Nm a little more maximum torque. The prices for the combustion engine start at 23,990 euros. Both models are available with both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive and with both manual and automatic transmission. There are five equipment levels, whereas the e-Motion will only have three. The base price is 38,990 euros and the electrician will be on the market at the end of April.
