The head of the agricultural services sector at the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture, Abbas El-Shennawy, told “Sky News Arabia” that the Egyptian Ministry of Justice is coordinating with the competent authorities in the country to study the matter from a constitutional and legal point of view and its various dimensions.
He added that there must be deterrence for the crime of trespassing on agricultural lands, and in the event of a law that considers this crime as dishonorable, this will deter aggressors greatly, and any aggressor on agricultural land after that will put a black mark on himself and his family for life.
He explained that the Egyptian government’s plan is also to deprive the aggressors of agricultural lands of all forms of support provided by the state, whether subsidizing bread, food, fuel, or even health insurance.
He stressed that Egypt does not delay supporting everyone in need and does not skimp on its citizens with support and assistance, and therefore whoever is supported and supported must respond positively by preserving the agricultural area.
He said that the private agricultural property of individuals is in fact the public property of the people in terms of production, from which every Egyptian citizen benefits. Then, there will be great strictness against anyone who attacks agricultural land, because by doing so, he will break the law and affect the food security of the Egyptian state.
He revealed that the most Egyptian governorates in terms of the percentage of attacks on agricultural lands are: Beheira, then Dakahlia, then Sharkia and Minya.
And the Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, held a meeting, Thursday, in the presence of the Ministers of Agriculture and Local Development, during which he confirmed that scenes of previous encroachments on agricultural lands would not be allowed to return again.
He stressed dealing decisively to stop this phenomenon, which he described as threatening the future of future generations.
He said that it will be dealt with immediate decisions, represented in the immediate removal of any new infringement, as well as the abolition of all forms of support for each trespasser on agricultural lands, whether subsidizing bread, supplies, or fertilizers, and others, unlike the law that is being prepared to criminalize this violation as a crime against honor. And confiscation of the violating building, and punishing the contractor with heavy penalties.
