This is the case that concerns us today, that of Doctor Efraín Romo Santoswho has just put the book in the hands of the citizens “Ophthalmology for everyone”in which he captures his experiences of 45 years with its mission to recover the sight of those who believed it was lost, a very humanitarian task and with a sensitive message of support for those who have less.
He Dr. Romo, originally from the municipality of Angostura He lived a restless youth, he left his homeland to seek personal improvement in other states and outside the country, and he achieved it, he studied ophthalmologyFor him, the greatest pain is knowing that someone lives without being able to see.
Thus he returned to his land with a saddlebag full of dreams and illusions and created the “Buena Vista” clinic, where with the support of foundations and institutions he is dedicated to ensuring that those who have lost the light of their sight can recover it, their cases of success are counted in the thousands.
Every day, dozens of low-income people come before him, his son Efraín, who follows in his footsteps, and his work team, who gratefully regain their lost vision.
Doctor Ramos Santos maintains that the patient always arrives at the office nervous and afraid, especially when he has lost hope of seeing again. And that even makes him an unbeliever.
“The first thing I do as a doctor,” he says, “is to turn the patient into a friend, give him confidence and make him feel like a family and at home, talk about things in life, then everything happens on its own, and another thing, I want When I am gone, this mission of helping others will be continued by my family, so that this mark will be left forever, in helping others.”…What a hard blow!…
