The ‘Caetano’ storm puts eight communities on alert due to strong winds
The maritime storm and the strong winds caused by the Caetano storm that has hit a large part of the country since Wednesday keeps eight autonomous communities on alert today, two of them (País Valencià and Catalunya) at the “orange” level (significant risk ).
In the Valencian Community, the State Meteorological Agency has activated an “orange” warning due to the strong winds that will be recorded, especially during the first hours of the day, in the interior of the province of Alacant and in the southern interior of the province of València, where the gusts will reach up to 90 kilometers per hour.
In Catalonia, the “orange” warning from the Aemet is due to the strong storm and focuses on the coast of the Ampurdán region, in Girona, where the strongest gusts of wind can reach 100 kilometers per hour and the waves up to 4 meters.
In addition, the strong winds have justified the activation of yellow warnings in the communities of Aragon, the Balearic Islands, and also in large areas of Catalonia and the Valencian Community, and according to Aemet data, gusts of 70 and 80 kilometers per hour will be reached. and occasionally in some places up to 90.
The warning map planned for today is completed with “yellow” level alerts (risk) in the communities of Andalusia, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia, Euskadi and the Autonomous City of Melilla due to the strong maritime storm, due to the wind and the surf.
