The logistics facility's new ammunition production will be tested for 10 days.
Defense forces has started a 10-day test shooting at Helsinki's Katajaluodo on Tuesday. In artillery shooting, the new ammunition production of the Explosives Center under the Logistics Department of the Defense Forces is tested and its compatibility with the weapons.
Shooting takes place between 9:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily until April 25.
The head of the Niinisalo production department, lieutenant colonel Tommi Luomajärvi says that Helsinki-Vantaa air traffic limits test shooting between 2:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
“Even tonight, you can hear shooting from the direction of Katajaluoto,” says Luomajärvi.
Artillery firing the direction is southwest from Katajaluoto, in a sector whose right border is Kallbåda and the left border extends 45 kilometers from the line between Kustaa Adolfin Kar and Länsiluoto.
The logistics department conducts test firings twice a year in spring and autumn, when there are no boaters in the sea area.
“The idea is to try to compress the test shootings in such a way that they cause as little resentment as possible,” says Luomajärvi.
