As reported by Gematsu, the US rating board ESRB has added to its database Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania Editionwhich would seem to suggest the arrival of aphysical edition for PS5 of Dead Cells bundled with the DLC Return to Castlevania released a few weeks ago.
The ESRB page mentions, at least for the moment, only the PS5 version, but it is possible that the package will also arrive on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, always provided that it is officially confirmed. It is also not clear whether it is a “definitive edition” which also includes all the other expansions published in the past. To find out, we just have to wait for official communications.
In any case, it would not be the first physical edition of Dead Cells. In past years the game has arrived in stores first in a basic version for PS4 released in 2018 and the following year in the Action Game of the Year also for Switch.
Dead Cells is a 2D side-scrolling roguelike with Metroidvania elements from Motion Twin and Evil Empire. Return to Castlevania was launched on March 6, 2023, a DLC that offers a crossover with the famous Konami series, from which the game draws inspiration.
On our pages you will find the review of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, where Simone Tagliaferri says:
“Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is a great DLC that does exactly what it promises: it brings a little bit of Castlevania into Dead Cells. It intelligently does it for everyone, although it is designed to please fans of the Konami series above all. In general the added content is great and well worth the money, if only if you want to extend the Dead Cells experience a bit, so expect very challenging and well-designed levels, spectacular bosses and lots of nods to the Castlevanias, at the point that playing it will make you want to hope for a new official chapter of the series.
