The game has seen a surge in popularity in recent weeks thanks in part to the premiere of Edgerunners.
What a month for Cyberpunk 2077. The open world title of CD Project has seen how the premiere of Edgerunners, the Netflix animated series set in the video game universe, has skyrocketed its popularity with a million players a day visiting Night City over the past week.
In relation to this rebirth, we have interviewed Jeremiah Cohnhead of marketing for CD Projekt RED, in Washington Post, who has not hesitated to give Netflix production the credit it deserves. “Matching the game update with the anime allowed us to connect Cyberpunk 2077 players with Edgerunners viewers and generate expectation for both at the same time“, Explain.
The Cyberpunk Universe Has Unlimited PotentialJeremiah CohnHowever, Cohn says that this recent success is not a pure coincidence. According to him, “is the result of many months of hard work” and directs all praise to the “fantastic team of developers and other members of CD Projekt RED”, who have been dedicating these last months to Cyberpunk 2077 to try to improve the experience to the maximum.
“The Cyberpunk universe is very exciting and has unlimited potential,” says Cohn, who has left the door open for us to see more of his universe in the future: “The most important thing right now is that we enjoy this moment and let’s use its inertia as an opportunity to take things even further“.
It’s worth noting that Cyberpunk 2077 will be even bigger with the addition of its huge expansion, Phantom Liberty, which premieres during 2023 although only for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S and Stadia, without versions of PS4 or Xbox One. CD Projekt has made it clear that, unless plans change, there will be no more expansions in the future, so this will be the last adding story content.
