HS Environment | The well-known children’s clothing brand will completely stop making rainwear for environmental reasons

The production of traditional rainwear is not responsible from an environmental point of view, says Polarn O. Pyret.

Swedish children’s clothing brand Polarn O. Pyret says it will stop making traditional rainwear and rubber boots completely.

According to the company, the rainwear manufacturing process is not responsible from an environmental point of view and does not meet its sustainability goals. Polarn O. Pyret says that he is developing his clothing selection to be more sustainable and responsible than before. According to the company, most of the work is related to materials.

“It is important to emphasize that there is no risk in using traditional rainwear – our decision to stop manufacturing them was made purely from a sustainable development point of view,” says Polarn O. Pyret’s CEO Johan Munck in the bulletin.

Traditional rainwear produced in previous seasons can be bought in stores while supplies last. In addition, the company starts selling rainwear in its second hand departments.

The clothing brand will completely stop selling traditional rainwear before a production method that meets the company’s responsibility criteria has been found.

Instead of traditional rainwear, Polarn O. Pyret continues to sell children’s outerwear.
