Santa Margherita Ligure – The Carabinieri of Santa Margherita Ligure, in execution of an order from the Court of Genoa, arrested a 25-year-old man held responsible for serious injuries to two young Milanese people who had recently come of age, coming from Milan, committed as part of a group attack. The facts date back to end of August 2023when the two Milanese boys, returning from an evening in a club on the Riviera, were approached by a group of boys – including several minors – and provoked.
Despite the repeated attempts to escape the attention of the group one of the three Milanese was beaten: he suffered serious injuries from that beating. In addition to the arrested person, the Carabinieri have notified two other adults involved in the episode of the obligation to stay, with a ban on going out in the evening and at night. The investigations developed by the investigators, conducted through the examination of the city's video surveillance recordings and the collection of various witness statements, made it possible to reconstruct the modus operandi of the group, called the “Drughi”, a reference to the character in the novel A Clockwork Orange.
In particular, the arrested man would have had the task of select possible victims identifying them among the boys who come from outside the Liguria region and provoking them, resulting in violent beatings in which the remaining members of the group are involved. At the end of the house searches ordered by the Genoa prosecutor's office, the carabinieri found and seized seven mobile phones which will be subjected to technical analysis. Further investigations are currently underway on similar episodes that occurred in 2023 in the eastern Ligurian territory.
