The Cavaliers’ spectacular 15-0 unbeaten streak to open the season finally ended on the road at the hands of the Celtics. The start of Kenny Atkinson’s team becomes the best start in NBA history, only behind the 24-0 of the Warriors in the 2015-16 season. Boston imposed an electric rhythm and was impeccable in defensive tasks and in triples, with a brilliant statistic of 22 of 41 correct. In the third quarter, the locals dominated by 21 points, but Cleveland managed to level the game, finally falling 120-117.
On the part of Massachusetts, Jayson Tatum led with 33 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists. The Celtics forward had good squires in the scoring field, such as Al Horford (20 points), Derrick White (19 points), Jaylen Brown (17 points) and Payton Pritchard (13 points).
For the Cavaliers, the great figure was, as usual, Donovan Mitchell, with a balance of 35 points and eight rebounds. Evan Mobley also stood out in Cleveland with a double-double (22 points and 11 rebounds) and Craig Porter (15 points). Darius Garland had a discreet performance, scoring eight points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Traveling to New York, Jordi Fernández’s Nets beat the Hornets 116-115 thanks to the scoring effectiveness and defensive solidity shown in the last quarter. Brooklyn’s leaders were Cameron Johnson (35 points), Dennis Schroder (14 points and 12 assists) and Jalen Wilson (17 points).
For the Charlotte franchise, the contributions of Mikal Bridges (21 points), Tre Mann (19 points) and Grant Williams (16 points) stood out. The New Yorkers are ninth with six wins and nine losses and those from North Carolina occupy the twelfth position with a 5-9.
On the other hand, the Memphis Grizzlies fell at home without Ja Morant 120-122 against the Denver Nuggets, who could not count on the presence of Nikola Jokic. Santi Aldama’s superb performance, with 28 points and 11 rebounds, was not enough to avoid defeat in what was his best night in the NBA.
On the Colorado side, Russell Westbrook made it big with a triple-double (12 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists). In addition, Jamal Murray climbed to 27 points, Michael Porter reached a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds and Christian Braun added 19 points. In Tennessee, apart from Aldama, Jaren Jackson (19 points) and Scotty Pippen Jr. (16 points) also helped.
