Erno Saukko wanted to experience the Northern seasons. He prepared food in advance for each day of the year, took his backpack and went hiking. A year in the wilderness brought wonderful nature experiences but also surprising dangerous situations.
What is the most difficult if you plan to survive for a year alone in the wilderness of the North? Loneliness? Having enough of your own strength? Orientation? Cold?
None of these, at least Erno Sauko. Saukko, who is studying to be a doctor, went to the wilderness of Finland, Sweden and Norway for a whole year, but he experienced the most difficult moments at home in Oulu, while planning the trip.
