The Economist: Ukrainian troops suffer heavy losses in Donbas
Ukrainian troops deployed in Donbass are suffering heavy losses as the Russian army advances. This is writes The British magazine The Economist, citing servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
According to one of the soldiers, the Ukrainian command decided to send reinforcements to help his unit, but they consisted of inexperienced infantrymen. The soldier reported that they were quickly routed. “In three days, 100 turned into zero. Some fled, some fell,” he said.
It is noted that at present the risk of being surrounded by Russian servicemen remains for the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in Ukrainsk. Also, according to the publication, in neighboring Kurakhovo the supply of Ukrainian troops has also been limited.
Earlier, former Pentagon adviser Colonel Douglas MacGregor said that the Russian Armed Forces’ strike on the Poltava Military Communications Institute was a heavy loss for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In his opinion, the strike demonstrated to the world the absolute seriousness of the Russian troops’ intentions.
