Fujairah (Union)
The Egyptian Bassem Amin won the 50th Chess Federation Day Cup, organized by the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi, President of the Fujairah Sports Club, with the participation of 70 players from 11 nationalities on the Parachute Beach, to be the first open-air tournament on the waterfront of the Corniche Fujairah.
The Serbian Igor Mladenovic came in second place, and Salem Abdel Rahman, player of our national team and Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, won the third place, and the Egyptian Ali Farhat fourth, the Filipino Oliver fifth, the Egyptian Mohamed Ezzat sixth, and the Moldovan Fiorel in seventh place.
In the age group competitions, the players of Mongolia and India took the first places, while the Emirati Aisha Al Marashda won first place in the under-6 category.
After the competitions ended, Mohammed Al Zaabi, Vice Chairman of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club, crowned the winners, in the presence of Board members: Maryam Al Matrooshi, Ibrahim Al Balushi and Jassim Al Balushi.
The tournament was held in the blitz chess system and according to the Swiss system of 7 rounds, and the tournament allocated 16 prizes for the first places, including 6 prizes for age groups from 6 to 16 years.
The club’s board of directors thanked and appreciated His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Hamad Al Sharqi for His Highness’ sponsorship of the tournament and the unlimited support that contributed to the tournament appearing in a beautiful professional manner and its establishment in one of the beautiful tourist interfaces in Fujairah.
