To ambassadors, Bolsonaro criticized STF and TSE ministers and electronic voting machines; Planalto wrote “brienfing” in the presentation
President’s Presentation Panel Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to ambassadors this Monday (18.Jul.2022) misspelled the word “briefing” and displayed “briefing”. On the occasion, Bolsonaro criticized the Brazilian electoral process, the electronic voting machines and the ministers of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) and TSE (Superior Electoral Court).
Government ministers such as Carlos França (Foreign Affairs), Paulo Sérgio Nogueira (Defense), Ciro Nogueira (Casa Civil), Luiz Eduardo Ramos (General Secretary) and Augusto Heleno (Institutional Security Office) were present.
Bolsonaro decided to hold the meeting after TSE president Edson Fachin participated in an event with diplomats about this year’s elections and the Brazilian electoral system. Fachin was invited to this Monday’s meeting, but declined. He stated that the “duty of impartiality” prevents you from going.
To the ambassadors, Bolsonaro spoke about the 2018 secret investigation by the PF (Federal Police) into a hacker attack on the TSE. In August 2021, the court sent a crime report to the STF for the leak of an investigation by the president.
“It is an inquiry that has no confidential classification”, said. According to Bolsonaro, the 2020 elections could not have passed without the conclusion of the inquiry. “Everything I say here is either a conclusion from the PF or is directly information provided by the TSE”declared.
According to him, “hackers stayed inside TSE computers for 8 months”. He also denied that he is preparing a coup in the 2022 elections.”Everything I’m going to say here is documented, nothing in my head […] What I want most on the occasion of the elections is transparency. We want the winner to be the one who actually gets voted on.”said.
Bolsonaro also stated that, in addition to Brazil, only 2 other countries, Bangladesh and Bhutan, use electronic voting machines without printed vouchers.
