“It is very unfortunate”, says Albert Verlinde about the musical that could already be seen this spring. “We had already agreed with some of the cast that they would be seen again in April and May next year in Diary of a Sheepdog. We have also informed them that we will not be letting the performance go on for the time being. The rising costs of both energy and material are weighing heavily on this mega production and the pop-up theater to be built.”
Not only the rising costs are a problem for Diary of a Sheepdog, the musical based on the popular television series of the same name from the 1970s. Verlinde: ,,It is also difficult for us to find staff. It is a sum, with the difficult outcome that we are left with no other choice to cancel the performance for the spring of 2023.’”
The choice is difficult for the producers. “Especially because there was once again a great deal of interest in this production,” said Servé Hermans. ,, Ticket sales started at the end of August and went very well. That’s why it’s so wry that we had to make this decision.”
Albert Verlinde and Serve Hermans emphasize that this is not the final end for Diary of a Sheepdog means. “On the contrary,” says Albert Verlinde. Our intention is and remains that Diary of a Sheepdog comes back. Just not next spring. That is not feasible for now. We will definitely come back at another time.”
People who have already bought a ticket for the musical will automatically receive a message, the entrance fee will be refunded.
