The former president of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaoré, and his former head of security, Gilbert Diendéré, along with Hyacinthe Kafando, a fugitive soldier, were sentenced on Wednesday, April 6, to life in prison for the murder of the former head of state, turned into a revolutionary symbol Thomas Sankara. Of the three sentenced, only Diendéré was present at the hearing, since since his fall in 2014 former President Compaoré, who is the main defendant, lives in exile in the Ivory Coast.
