The first episode of the documentary “The Beatles: Get Back” premiered this Thursday (25th), a retelling of the classic documentary “Let It Be” by the English band, released in 1969. Available on Disney Plus, this is another chapter of the vast material left by the Liverpool quartet and which is annually a new edition with precious news for fans.
You might be wondering what’s new in a documentary that builds on what was released 51 years ago, right? Peter Jackson, director of the reinterpretation of the documentary that is considered by many to be the lowest point in the dynamic among the Beatles – and therefore rejected by critics and fans who do not appreciate the moments of tension between John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Star – pored over more than 130 hours of audio produced by the original 1969 team.

From those 130 hours of completely unreleased material, recorded in 22 days and originally directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Jackson cut an 8-hour cut and separated them into three episodes. The first chapter is now available and there are 2:36 hours of conversations and rehearsals from the sessions of the album “Let It Be”, which capture the atmosphere of that period almost at the end of the band at Abbey Road Studios in London.

The work is the result of 4 years of editing and restoring the original material and shows all the path taken by the Beatles to produce their penultimate album (despite being the group’s last release, in 1970, the album was recorded before “ Abbey Road”, released in 1969).
In the original recording, many of the dialogues are muffled by the sound of the instruments and it is possible to capture the tension between the English just by the exchange of looks and the apparent absence of dialogues. With the work of Peter Jackson and the technology of our times, fans will be able to clearly follow all those dialogues lost in 1969 and locked in Apple’s vaults for nearly 50 years.
