A number of countries around the world have summoned Russian ambassadors in connection with the military operation in the Donbass. This is reported RIA News.
Thus, British Foreign Minister Liz Truss said that she had called the Russian ambassador Andrey Kelin to give an explanation about Moscow’s military operation. She stressed that London intends to impose tough sanctions against the Russian side and rally states to support Kiev.
Reuters writes that Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi also summoned the Russian ambassador to express his condemnation of Moscow’s actions in Ukraine. A similar position was expressed to the Russian ambassador at the Italian Foreign Ministry. The Russian Ambassador was also summoned to the Hungarian Foreign Ministry. Foreign Minister of the country Peter Szijjarto condemned the steps of the Russian Federation and informed the diplomat about the position of Hungary on the situation in Ukraine. “Hungary supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and will be part of a joint EU response,” the Budapest stressed.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to launch a special military operation to protect the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR). He also turned to outside forces that might try to pose a threat to the country – according to him, the answer will be immediate.
