Lago is one of those responsible for the floods recorded in the south of the country; at the site, the flood level is 3 meters
The Guaíba level, in Rio Grande do Sul, rose again this Monday (May 13, 2024). At 2pm, the lake reached the 4.94 meter mark, around 20 centimeters higher than the same time the previous day. At the site, the flood level is 3 meters.
The rise of Guaíba is worrying, as the flood is one of the main causes of the flooding that has hit Rio Grande do Sul since April 28th. The State is facing a public calamity.
On May 7, Guaíba reached its historic peak, when its level reached 5.33 meters. The mark surpassed what had been, until then, the highest flood record in the capital Porto Alegre, in 1941. That year, the river reached 4.76 meters.
