“Fair Russia” will submit to the State Duma a bill on indexation of pensions for working pensioners
The Just Russia – For Truth party will submit bills to the State Duma on indexing pensions for working pensioners and on lowering the retirement age. This was announced by its head Sergei Mironov, reports RIA News.
“We will return to those initiatives that were rejected – this is the mandatory return of the retirement age, the indexation of pensions for working pensioners,” the head of the political force said.
In December 2022, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the issue of indexing the pensions of working pensioners. He said that the position is currently being worked out, but there is no consensus on this matter yet.
Indexation of pensions for working pensioners was canceled in 2016. At the end of July 2021, the deputies submitted to the State Duma a bill on the return of indexation of insurance pensions to working pensioners from January 1, 2022. One of the authors of the initiative, Yaroslav Nilov, head of the lower house committee on labor, social policy and veterans’ affairs, called the lack of indexation unfair.
In September of the same year, the government issued a negative opinion on the bill of a group of deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party and Senator Sergei Leonov on the indexation of pensions for working pensioners. The authorities noted that indexation would require additional costs, but the rationale for the document does not indicate the source of funding for the initiative.
