Agents from the Police Stations of the San Blas-Canillejas and Moratalaz districts of the Madrid Municipal Police, in collaboration with the Labor and Social Security Inspection, have intervened in a clandestine vehicle cleaning and repair workshop located in the neighborhood of Las Bars, as reported by a spokesperson for the Local Body.
The operation took place on October 24 around 10:30 a.m. on 18 Octubre Street. After a prior investigation, the agents, together with a Labor Inspection worker, arrived at the establishment, which operated without a sign and with a door. closed, but inside there were five people in full activity.
They interviewed the workers at the site and requested the presence of the owner of the activity, appearing at the point. After reviewing the documentation, they verified that three of the employees were in an irregular situation in Spain, while another person was not registered with Social Security and one more did not have a work permit.
When speaking with the owner of the business, he acknowledged that the workshop did not have a license to carry out vehicle cleaning and repair activities. The deficiencies detected included the lack of a planning license, the lack of civil liability insurance, the treatment of hazardous waste, and the absence of claim forms.
To this we must add that in terms of security, the establishment only had one expired fire extinguisher and presented serious risks by obstructing the emergency exit, lobby and stairs with merchandise of all kinds. The non-existence of smoke extraction and carbon monoxide detection systems was also confirmed, failing to comply with regulations on air quality and sustainability. For all this, the agents drew up minutes.
In addition, the Labor Inspection began the procedures to sanction labor and Social Security irregularities. Likewise, the accumulation of dangerous waste and the lack of minimum safety measures in the premises were reported, whose roof had a fracture with risk of collapse.
