Hamburg – The animal houses at Hagenbeck had to remain closed for a year and a half due to the Corona crisis – under 2G conditions they were allowed to reopen on Monday. “Whether orangutans, kangaroos or dwarf goats – Hagenbeck’s animal residents are happy to finally be able to observe visitors again,” said the zoo. However, the feeding of the animals is still prohibited. With the switch to the 2G regulation, only recovered and vaccinated visitors have been allowed to enter the zoo and the tropical aquarium since Monday. Children and young people under the age of 18 are exempt from this rule.
“In view of the increasing incidence, we have decided to introduce additional mask requirements in all animal houses and in the tropical aquarium to be on the safe side,” said managing director Dirk Albrecht. This would not only protect the visitors, but also the animals. (dpa)
