Three people were arrested this Wednesday (2) in connection with two explosions with no reported casualties that occurred this Tuesday (1st) in the north of Copenhagen, near the Israeli embassy, Danish police said.
“In connection with last night’s explosions near the Israeli embassy in Hellerup, three people were arrested. Two men were arrested on a train at Copenhagen Central Station. Additionally, we arrested another man earlier, at another location in Copenhagen,” explained the police in a message on the social network X, according to the EFE Agency.
Traffic at the central station was interrupted for just over half an hour due to police action.
The explosions occurred around 3:20 am (10:20 pm on Tuesday in Brasília) and were reported by officers providing security at the diplomatic legation.
“We have launched an extensive investigation and increased police presence in the area,” Copenhagen police sub-inspector Jakob Hansen said at a press conference hours later.
Police have not yet confirmed whether there is a connection between the explosions and the embassy, nor have they said whether there was any damage to property, the type of explosives used or the force of the explosion.
Police isolated the area and reinforced their presence around the diplomatic delegation.
The Israeli embassy is located in the Hellerup neighborhood, in the north of the Danish capital, in an area where other countries, such as Romania, Thailand, Iran and Turkey, also have their diplomatic offices.
Swedish police also confirmed on Wednesday that a shot was fired at the Israeli diplomatic delegation in Stockholm last night.
“The Israeli embassy was found to have been hit by gunfire. No people were injured. A preliminary investigation has been opened into a serious weapons crime. No arrests have been made,” Swedish police said in a statement.
The actions occurred on the same day that Iran launched an attack with around 200 missiles against Israel.
