Nadia Nadim together with H&M Move visits the “Sport For Good” project of the Laureus Foundation
On the occasion of the first year of the two-year partnership between Laureus Sport For Good Italia Foundation and the community program “Move Together” promoted by H&M Movethe footballer Nadia Nadim visited one of the locations of the projects supported by the Foundation in Milan. The visit, which took place on May 31, highlights the enormous power of sport as an accelerator of positive changes, both physical, mental and social.
Nadia Nadim, Brand Mover of Move Together, AC Milan player and former refugee, an example both on and off the football pitch, visited a Laureus Foundation project based in Milan, in the Corvetto district to underline the importance of sport in promoting social cohesion and the involvement of the neediest young people. His visit is part of H&M’s Move Together community programme, which aims to inspire new generations through engagement, sharing his personal journey and participating in various activities aimed at increasing confidence and collective energy . The Laureus Foundation project in Milan uses sport as a tool for education and development, helping young people to overcome personal and social barriers.
Nadia Nadim, talks about the transformative power of sport: “It’s incredibly inspiring to see how sport can change the mindset of young people. The work carried out so far by the Laureus Foundation is fundamental and I am honored to be part of it thanks to the Move Together programme. I hope my visit can encourage these amazing kids to chase their dreams and believe in their full potential.”
After a year of partnership, H&M Move and the Laureus Foundation are proud to share the first results and milestones of their collaboration, implemented through the H&M Move Together community support program and the Laureus Sport For Good program:
· In June last year, H&M Move Brand Mover, Zlatan Ibrahimović, surprised the children participating in the summer camp held in Milan by actively joining their activities. Zlatan, who is committed to personally contributing to communities, shares a deep connection to the program’s mission.
· In the summer of 2023, Laureus offered 300 kids and girls the opportunity to participate in summer camps and to be involved in multi-sport and creative (musical and artistic) activities.
· In the cities of Naples, Palermo and Rome, around 450 children and young people aged between 6 and 14 they were involved in extracurricular sports courses ranging from football, karate, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, athletics and dance, with the aim of combating educational poverty.
· On the outskirts of Milan, Laureus offered inclusive physical education courses to around 120 boys and girls from a primary school, also involving minors with disabilities in the project.
· Also in Milan, Laureus has activated the Sport for Good project in the Corvetto district, involving 40 boys and girls in mini-basketball courses. Laureus followed the coaches to develop emotional and relational skills that are fundamental for the growth paths of these children. On May 31, these very children met Nadia Nadim, a football champion and one of the most important voices in communicating the values of sport as an opportunity for redemption and growth even in the most difficult situations.
As part of the initiatives to support the Laureus Foundation, starting from mid-June H&M customers in Italy will be able to make a donation to the Foundation through a fundraiser. Donations can be made when completing an online purchase or in the brand’s stores. Alternatively, donations can be made directly through the Laureus website.
Daria Braga, General Director of the Laureus Foundation: “Laureus is a unique reality in the Italian panorama. What distinguishes our intervention is the quality training we do on coaches, as strategic figures so that the children receive those values and skills (respect for the rules, team spirit, management of success and failures, commitment and preparation for healthy competition) that can lead them to dream and believe in a different future. Those who benefit are not only the direct recipients, i.e. the boys and girls who participate in our initiatives, but the entire group involved in sporting activities and the entire community. H&M has chosen to support us and commit to giving visibility to “Sport for Good” by involving its customers. We are happy to be able to take this journey together.”
Diana Amini, Head of Move Together Program: “Our collaboration with the Laureus Foundation over the last year has demonstrated the huge impact that sport can have on young lives and Nadia’s visit is testament to how sport can create positive change.” We are also thrilled to invite our Italian customers to join us in supporting Laureus’ mission by contributing to a fundraising activity, through H&M channels or directly through Laureus.”
