Around 500 establishments, including nightclubs, businesses, condominiums and others, were inspected, with the participation of more than 400 federal agents.
The nationwide action is coordinated by the Private Security Control and Inspection Division and has been carried out since 2017.
According to the PF, hiring these private security services puts the physical integrity of people and the assets of the contractors at risk, since the clandestine “security guards” are not subject to control by the Federal Police regarding their criminal records, training, physical and psychological fitness. Furthermore, companies operating underground do not comply with the minimum operating requirements set out in legislation. In Brazil, only private security companies – authorized by the PF – can provide services and hire security guards.

In Rio de Janeiro, the action resulted in 15 notices of termination of unauthorized security activities, in addition to one report of seizure. In the interior of Pará, the work was supported by a PF tactical group, due to the suspicion of militias acting in private security.
