The last pole in Miami
Everything is ready for the sixth round of the 2024 championship, which will see the drivers competing on the street circuit of You love me. A route that partially evokes good memories a Sergio Perezwho won his third e here last pole position in career. The Mexican, however, failed to convert that front-running start into victory, with Verstappen demonstrating his talent by completing a great comeback from ninth on the grid.
Newey’s Choice
The most debated topic this week, however, was that relating to the announcement of Adrian Neweywho after 18 years at Red Bull will leave the Milton Keynes team in the first quarter of 2025. A news to which ‘Checo’ reacted as follows in the pre-weekend press conference: “Yes obviously It’s not ideal – has explained – a person like Adrian has been fundamental to our team and our organization, and he is obviously also a great friend of mine. I think probably want to do something else, and rightly so“.
Other changes in the future?
The internal struggles in Red Bull were the causes of Newey’s choice to leave his home in Milton Keynes to continue his career, it seems, in Ferrari. A situation which, according to Perez, will not generate other exits of prominent men like his teammate Max Verstappen: “I do not believe – he has declared – I think everyone works hard for the team. We are once again experiencing an extraordinary season. The team’s future is brightso I think it’s normal that there’s this kind of movement with some people, but I think the organization remains very strong and I don’t see any other changes in this sense. Adrian, with the experience he has, has contributed a lot to the philosophy of Red Bull. I assume that he will make an immediate impact wherever he goes, whatever he does. He is a very intelligent man and a hard worker, more than a designer. He can also influence the strategies, the setup, and the entire race weekend, and it was great to have him around. Wherever he goes, he will make an immediate impact.” To the microphones of Fox Sports Perez added that he can imagine it “dressed in red”therefore destined to link up with Ferrari as reported by FormulaPassion.it.
Renewal at Red Bull
Speaking of the future, Perez also returned to talk about his stay at Red Bull, with the renewal not being his main priority at the moment, but which will only be a matter of time: “Like everyone who hasn’t signed a contract everything remains an option. So, at the moment, it is not the main priority. We’re in a time where everyone is looking for the best possible option, but I think that’s it just a matter of time. Now the priority is the season, the races, preparing for the races with the team.”
