Helldivers 2 it's a success on PC and PlayStation and has surprised everyone, even the developers at Arrowhead Game Studio. The team didn't anticipate the level of appreciation and isn't ready to release new content as quickly as they would like. Additionally, there are missing features that the team didn't initially plan for but have now become relevant based on player requests. One of these is the cross-progressionor the possibility of sharing the progress of your game by switching from the PC version to the PlayStation version.
Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt said that although this was not originally the plan given the massive and unexpected influx of players, a “significant” portion of whom want cross-progression, it's likely that the feature will end up being added to the game.
“There probably will be a cross-progression in the future,” he wrote. “We didn't think enough people would be interested, so we decided to cut it – but now there appears to be a significant portion of the audience playing on both platforms.”
That said, Pilestedt also clarified that this is absolutely not a promise or guarantee.
Helldivers 2, our review
In our review of Helldivers 2 we explained to you that “Helldivers 2 is proof that it is still possible to make a live service video game that works. All it takes is an impeccable and customizable combat system, good network features, a progression system that also encourages repeating the missions already done and a broad horizon in terms of future content.”
