Serrano Heart He had a big surprise after being nominated in the first edition of the Capemusica 2024 Awards, an event that is organized by the Peruvian Chamber of Music and that will highlight the work of all national musicians. In an exclusive interview with La República, Leodan Guerrero, one of the founders of the group, told us how they learned the news of his election and the expectations they have for the winner of their category.
Corazón Serrano competes in the category of best cumbia artist and will compete with Agua Marina and Grupo 5 on January 31. Precisely regarding the 'Golden Group', Guerrero stated that they deserve to win the medal and the reasons were surprising.

—Corazón Serrano has been nominated in the category of best cumbia artist, in Peru. How did you find out the news?
—Yes, we are grateful, we just saw it yesterday. My sister received an invitation through her email and she shared it with me. She surprised us. It's good that there are these types of awards in Peru, because they are more attached to reality and not like some other awards there are.
—What do you mean that these awards are more attached to reality?
—I wouldn't like to delve too deeply into the subject, but I consider that these awards do reflect more the reality of the numbers in the country (in reference to the artists' work, concerts, sales).
—The usual question: how is the trust? Do you think they can beat Group 5 and Agua Marina?
—I am a realist. We know that we are a strong group in Peru, but I consider that another group that is nominated has been their year. I think it would be more worthwhile for another group to take it. They deserve it.
—They say it is humble to recognize the work of others. We know that you are referring to Group 5, which has had several concerts in the last year and a great reception.
—Of course, we applaud the work that other groups are doing and we have to continue working harder and, on another occasion, perhaps it will be our turn. I say this in a general way. They (Group 5) have been doing things very well, not only for their concerts, but also for sales and on digital platforms, it is the result of the work they have done. We have nothing to envy of other orchestras.
In addition, the member of the Guerrero family surprised by revealing details about the celebration of Corazón Serrano's next anniversary, which will take place on February 24 at the Lima Cultural Club.
—After this award ceremony, you have a special event that will feature several artists such as Agua Marina and Raúl Romero. Will there be more guest artists?
—Yes, there will be more artists who are going to make a surprise. We are not going to make it public until that same day of the concert in front of everyone, then they will know. We have been working on this for more than 10 months. We want everything to turn out beautiful. Last year we brought Ada Chura and Axel and we want the fans to be surprised again at the show.
