US authorities are currently investigating the death of a robber in Houston, Texas. The man entered to rob a restaurant, presumably armed, and was killed by one of the diners who were in the place.
It seems, according to the first investigations, the thief entered the restaurant to rob with a fake weaponbut died from the shots.

The events occurred after 11 pm on Thursday, January 5, in a taco shop in Houston, Texas.
The security cameras captured the moment when an armed man entered the place fully covered to hide his identity: he was wearing a hood, black gloves and his weapon.
The thief went from table to table removing money and valuables from each of those present. in the restaurant.

When he approached the last table, he kept the money he managed to steal and prepared to leave the place while continuing to point at the diners.
As the thief approached the exitone of the people who was eating at the site took his firearm out of his pants and shot the assailant multiple times.
Then, according to local media reports, the subject took the money and other belongings that the thief had stolen and returned them to the people inside the restaurant.
“While the suspect was collecting money from customers, one of the customers, described as a white or Hispanic male, pulled out a gun and shot the suspect multiple times. The shooter collected the stolen money from the suspect and returned the money to other customers. He and other customers (victims) then fled the scene,” police said in a statement.
The thief, for his part, was found by the police on the restaurant floor and was pronounced dead by the paramedics who came to the scene.
Amid investigations, Houston police Lt. R. Willkens claimed that the thief was apparently carrying a plastic pistol.

The future of the man who shot
The week before, Houston police issued a statement asking the community for information to identify the man who shot and later escaped.
“Investigators want to speak to the man about his role in the shooting. No charges have been filed (…) Investigators ask the shooter and the victims who left the scene to contact the Homicide Division to provide statements regarding the incident,” the police statement read.
To locate him, the police released a photograph of the moment in which he escaped from the place, along with images of the vehicle in which he left after the incident in the taco shop.

This Monday, Police said the 46-year-old man has already been questioned and his case will go to a jury to determine whether or not he will face prosecution.
The man’s lawyer issued a statement in which he wrote that his client wishes to remain anonymous and that he acted on his behalf and that of others present.
“In Texas, a shooting is justified in self-defense, defense of others, and defense of property. My client met with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. He intends to continue to cooperate with the ongoing investigation,” the attorney wrote, as quoted by ABC 13.

Regarding the thief, the authorities affirmed that it was a man in his 30s identified as Eric Eugene Washington. The man was out on bail at the time of the robbery and had a significant criminal record.
