It will only send 7.5 hm3 through the Tajo-Segura aqueduct to supply the population
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition agreed this Thursday another ‘zero transfer’ for irrigation to the Segura basin, as in September. The Central Commission for the Exploitation of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct (ATS), analyzed the situation and decided to send only 7.5 hm3 to supply the population.
The situation of the system corresponds to level 3 and this month the forecast is that this exceptional hydrological situation will continue for the next full semester. For this reason, although the law allows up to a maximum of 20 hectometres to be derived, of which 13.5 could be used for irrigation, there will be no transfer for crops in the Segura basin.
The Commission also noted that as of October 1 there is a volume of 42.57 hm3 of already transferred water available in the Segura basin for supplies and irrigation. He also became aware of the situation in the Guadiana basin after the transfer that began in mid-August and that has made it possible to incorporate 3 hm3 into the Tablas de Daimiel National Park. And the state of the works for the repair of the ‘Tubería Manchega’ infrastructure and, in general, of the works for its fine-tuning and upcoming entry into service were assessed.
