Her marriage to a teacher at her children’s private school lasted just two years
Billionaire philanthropist Mackenzie Scott, ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, is divorcing her second husband, science teacher Dan Jewett, to whom she has been married less than two years, after they tied the knot in 2021 in California. As reported by the ‘New York Times’, it was she who filed the divorce petition with the King County Superior Court, in the state of Washington.
The American newspaper also collects that Jewett has not contested the separation and that there would be a private document that establishes the division of their respective assets, which has not been made public as part of the divorce agreement. Nor is there any evidence of a prenuptial agreement.
Scott starred in one of the most mediatic separations with the Amazon tycoon, with whom she was married for 25 years, until 2019. She then received a quarter of her stake in Amazon, which was worth $36 million at the time. Despite her numerous donations, Forbes estimates her current fortune at $34.8 million, due to rising stock prices.
Scott has been focused on her philanthropic work that she shared with the former teacher at the private school where her children studied. Now, Jewett’s name has been removed from all public documents related to her charity work. She, for her part, continues to make donations. Among the most recent, two mansions worth 55 million dollars to a California foundation, and separate deliveries of 20 and 15 million dollars to two other health-related organizations.
