Shenyang – China (WAM)
Local authorities have evacuated more than 28,000 people in northeastern China’s Liaoning Province following a fresh round of heavy rains, with water levels in six rivers in the province exceeding warning levels.
Heavy rains that hit many parts of the province on Sunday and Monday reached their highest rainfall levels in Xinglongtai district of Panjin City, prompting eight of the province’s 14 cities to activate level III or IV emergency responses, while the provincial meteorological office forecast more rains today, Xinhua reported. China has a four-tier emergency response system to combat floods.
