Democratic and Republican senators from the United States will meet this Saturday morning (5), through a videoconferencing platform, with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, according to two legislative sources told EFE. According to broadcaster CNN, the videoconference will begin at 9:30 am (local time, 11:30 am GMT).
All members of the Senate were invited to the meeting by the Ukrainian embassy in Washington, explained one such source. However, it is not certain that all senators will attend.
This will be the first meeting of Senate lawmakers with Zelensky, who in recent days has already addressed the European Parliament by videoconference and before European Union (EU) leaders gathered in an emergency summit.
Inside the US Senate, there are members of the Democratic and Republican parties who have called on Biden to take more forceful measures against Russia and almost all of them support the sending of military equipment to Ukraine.
