New carbon neutrality goals for Yamaha Motor which has decided to accelerate its transition process with new strategies aimed at zeroing carbon emissions for its plants, national and international, by 2035. Therefore, no longer 2050 as a target year to bring environmental impact to zero but a leap of 15 years compared to the initial objective which thus updates the Environmental Plan of the Japanese group with a new ambitious project that will involve the factories of the Tre Diapason brand.
To achieve this new goal, the company will promote initiatives aimed at minimizing energy consumption and relying on cleaner energy. The expected outcome of these actions by 2035 is a 92% reduction in CO2 emissions (compared to 2010) resulting from manufacturing operations at national and international Yamaha Motor factories. In addition, the remaining CO2 emissions will be offset with internationally recognized methods to carry out the company’s plan to achieve carbon neutrality in all of its plants. Among the concrete actions, Yamaha will increase the number of solar panels at its factories, in order to increase the percentage of self-produced electricity, will favor the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources by introducing electric versions of industrial furnaces and other equipment of factory that generate heat, steam-free air conditioners, while also working on the introduction of green electricity by gradually switching to the use of carbon-free electricity at other national and international group companies, with the aim of fully switching to carbon-free electricity by 2030.
