Nicola Baldan will make his second FIA WTCR appearance at the Adria International Raceway this weekend.
The Venetian made his debut in the top-flight wildcard tourism series at the Hungaroring in August and will also be with the Target Competition for his home outing.
The 2017 TCR Italy Champion will drive the Hyundai Elantra N again, but this time he will not have any ballast to load on board and will be able to aspire to the absolute points zone and the WTCR Trophy reserved for individuals.
“I am really excited to be able to make my second outing in the WTCR – said the 39-year-old – In Hungary everything was new for me: cars, track, championship. Now I have a little more experience, but it is still a demanding challenge and one of the best experiences of my career. “

“Adria is practically my home track, close to where I live, in fact it is the track I grew up on. I’ve won a lot of races on the old version and have great memories, even though I haven’t raced there since 2017. I’ve seen the new layout, but having never raced there we will have to deal with any brake problems. “
“I’m really curious to understand what the new part behind the hill is like, but it will also be tough with 20 cars all very close. But I won’t have any ballast, being the home circuit I have a bit more experience, even if I don’t really know what. expect me knowing how high the level of the series is “.
“I would be very happy to take points for myself and for the Target Competition, the best way to end the season of my return to the world of TCR”.
Baldan will be among the two Italians on the track; the other is Gabriele Tarquini, who races with the BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse, while the World Championship finally returns to racing in Italy, something that hasn’t happened since 2017 with the FIA WTCC.
Reason why the local idol hopes that the event will be open and with an audience present, also to have support, as he explains to Motorsport.com.
“I can’t wait to be in the paddock to enjoy the atmosphere. I hope that all the fans can come and support me, it will be a great opportunity to enjoy a good racing touring show and to hug the fans again.”
