Hyundai Motorsport has returned to work with the new i20 N Rally1 in one of the development tests of the new car, which will make its race debut at the Rallye Monte-Carlo scheduled from 20 to 23 January. Today, however, the day of testing did not go in the best way due to an accident involving Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe.
The Belgian crew, intent on testing the latest version of the i20 N Rally1 which was used for the first time last week taking the place of the first prototype that ran over the past few months, went off the road while intent on proceed on the day of tests on French asphalts.
The team, through a brief note that appeared on its official pages of the main social networks, made it known that Neuville and Wydaeghe went off the road and that they needed the intervention of paramedics on the spot to treat a shoulder injury suffered by the Flemish navigator. .

“Test update: Thierry Neuville and Martin Wydaeghe went off the road during the i20 N Rally1 test today. The crew is safe and the paramedics have arrived quickly on site to treat Martijn’s shoulder injury. The crew is there. traveling to the hospital for further tests “.
For Hyundai Motorsport this would have been the last day of the planned test. In the previous days, in fact, both Ott Tanak and Oliver Solberg took turns at the wheel of the new car. Today it was Neuville’s turn and today’s accident did not compromise the development program of the i20 N Rally1 too much.
Recall that last week Hyundai showed up with a completely new car compared to the prototype it has run over the last few months. The i20 N Rally1 was brought to the road for the first time by Ott Tanak and immediately showed many innovations in terms of aerodynamics, but, probably, there are also countless innovations under the bodywork.
