“This is a country that is dying and it is very painful,” Natalia told Cadena Ser. She is one of the Ukrainians who hides in the underground metro stations from the Russian siege.

The last 48 hours in the Ukraine have been hell. The flames of the missiles on the horizon look like the arrival of the apocalypse. Only the Ukrainian military pass through the streets of Kiev, who run to the rhythm of the sounds of emergency sirens to cover a flank that could be exploited by Russian troops.
The situation now for Kiev is, without exaggeration, threatening
Most of the inhabitants of Kiev take refuge in special points, while many others have decided to flee to Poland. There is talk that there are already 50,000 people who have left because of the war.

There is a smell of gunpowder in the streets. Although in the mornings there is some kind of movement by people looking to buy food and going to work, the worst happens at night.
Argentine journalist Elizabeth Piqué, who covers the war from Kiev, says that “to say that it was another night of terror is an understatement.”
Regarding the situation in the bunkers, she recounts: “There you could feel the terror, the helplessness, the anguish, the restlessness. And the stories, the faces, the people behind this war in the heart of Europe that, there is no doubt, will mark a before and after in terms of the world’s geopolitical balance”.
Tonight, the enemy is going to use all his might to break through our defenses in the most vile, harsh and inhuman way.
At night, Kiev has suffered moments of greatest panic, with Russian troops barely 35 kilometers from entering the city. In fact, the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, says that the Russian army has sneaked up on the capital.
“The situation now for Kiev is, without exaggeration, threatening. Next night, in the morning, it will be very difficult. The Russian army is close to the capital. The army and law enforcement officers are neutralizing the sabotage groups,” said.
There are even those who think that this very night there could be a “final battle”. It is known that the Ukrainian Army keeps its troops engaged in heavy fighting with Russian soldiers in the towns of Dymer and Ivankiv, located 45 and 80 kilometers north of Kiev, respectively. For this reason, even some citizens preferred the destruction of a bridge over the Teterov River to stop the advance of Russian tanks.
In the city there are already some buildings destroyed by the debris from the missiles. Last night there were five explosions with an interval of 3-5 minutes.
The threat is so latent that Volodomir Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, says that Russian troops will try to take Kiev tonight.
“We cannot lose the capital. I speak to our defenders, men and women on all fronts. Tonight, the enemy will use all his might to break through our defenses in the most vile, harsh and inhuman way. Tonight, they are going to try an attack,” Zelensky said in a video posted on the presidential website.
With the threat, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense urged the citizens who remain in Kiev to create Molotov cocktails to defend themselves from the Russian assault. Some citizens, with their own weapons, try to shoot at the Russian planes that are roaming the city.
