Day 3 of Williams at the Sakhir circuit ended with 142 laps of work. After yesterday’s problems at the brake by wire – complete with a fire on the right rear wheel – which had actually forced the Grove team to lose the whole day, today the historic British team was able to recover, at least partially, the lost time. In fact most of the work was done by Nicholas Latifi, ‘footed’ yesterday by the FW44 and instead the author of 124 rounds today. Less active Alex Albon, author of only 18 laps. Both drivers, while acknowledging the difficulties linked to reliability that is not always perfect, however, positively judged the overall performance of this three-day test.
Nicholas Latifi: “Obviously it wasn’t a perfect test, particularly for the problem we had on the second day, but I think the team did a great job to get the most out of the third day. The team did a great job fixing the car and all the engineers went out of their way to put us in the best position to maximize the last day. We did a great job today, learning a lot and doing a lot of laps. It was good for me to try to recover the mileage lost yesterday and now there is a lot of data to look into to see how we can be in the best possible shape for the first race of the season. “.
Alex Albon: “The pre-season tests are over and the next time we are on track it will finally be a race weekend. We got good mileage over the course of the test and I feel we ticked all of our boxes, despite losing some time on Friday. In terms of the car’s performance I think there is still something to be done and I am excited to keep pushing, next weekend and throughout the rest of the season, to get the most out of the FW44. Overall it was a positive and incredibly valuable test and the team did a great job, especially in some difficult circumstances “.
