Putin criticized the Tyumen governor Moor, who called the Russians stubborn
Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized the governor of the Tyumen region, Alexander Moor, who spoke unflatteringly about local residents refusing to evacuate from the flood.
During the report, Moor told the head of state about the situation in the region and said that only “the most stubborn” remained in the flood zone after the evacuation.
You said that we are taking people out, “the most stubborn ones remain.” Don't talk about people like that, don't. Listen to me, it's not funny
The president added that people are not traveling because they are afraid for their property. “We need to believe that everything will be reliably provided,” the Russian leader concluded.
On April 16, it was reported that in the Tyumen region, due to the flood situation, evacuation was immediately announced in 11 settlements. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia clarified that residents of the villages of Novogeorgievka, Palenka, Yeltsovo, Balandino, Malye Yarki and Borovlyanka, the villages of Afonkino, Ilyinka, Bolshiye Yarki, Kazanskoye, as well as the village of Novoseleznevo are subject to removal.
During the meeting, Moor said that in the coming days the Tyumen region is expecting a flood wave from the Kurgan region. According to his estimates, 101 settlements will be flooded instead of the expected 51 and 6,387 households instead of 1,840.
Putin demanded that work to assess flood damage be organized without pause
The President, speaking about the flood situation, called on the government to speed up payments to the victims. “In accordance with the established procedure, it is necessary to organize work to assess the damage in a timely manner. During! Just so there are no pauses! The water is leaving – the commission must work immediately,” the head of state said.
Putin also said that after the water recedes, issues related to the restoration of infrastructure and housing will be discussed. “We will definitely come back to this. Of course, we need to keep this under control,” he emphasized.
The governor of Kurgan also complained about those who did not want to evacuate.
Before this, another governor reported on residents who did not want to evacuate from flooded areas. The head of the Kurgan region, Vadim Shumkov, said that many do not believe in the seriousness of the threat. “Many say that it was similar in 2016, but it was not scary; in 1994 it was scary, but we survived,” he said and added that the current disaster is different from previous ones.
In the Kurgan region, 990 houses and household plots were flooded due to flooding. In Kurgan, sirens sound every two hours, and emergency services send five to seven SMS alerts a day.
