Weather | The first snow is possible on Sunday in a large part of the country

Mild air and more rain are expected on Monday and Tuesday.

Sunday starts in many places in sleet or snow. Weather service company Foreca evaluatethat, for example, the regions of South and North Karelia, Kainuu and Koilismaa can get the first snow with this rain area.

A large part of the country has a warning of slippery weather until early Sunday evening, says the Finnish Meteorological Institute warning map. The road warning does not apply to the southern and western parts of the country.

Slippery conditions will be caused by a water rain area arriving in Finland from the west on Saturday evening. It turns into the meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute Helena Laakson along with more snow as it moves towards the east and north during the evening and night.

“It will rain sleet in the east and snow in the north the night before Saturday and Sunday and the following morning,” says Laakso.

According to Laakso, the temperatures in eastern and northern Finland will remain close to zero on Sunday. Instead, milder air arrives to the west and south, and the thermometer can rise from five to ten degrees.

Early week According to Laakso, it begins mildly in the southern and central parts of the country. However, low pressure will move over Finland on Monday and Tuesday, bringing rain with it.

“During Tuesday, those rains will start to recede,” says Laakso.

Temperatures will remain below ten degrees in the southern and central parts of the country on Monday.

“It will be cooler and drier in the north at the beginning of the week. Temperatures drop to around zero or even slightly below freezing.”

So far, there are no slippery weather warnings for the beginning of the week.
