Vuelta a Colombia 2022: stage for Edgar Cadena and Cristian Rico, leader

The Mexican cyclist Edgar Cadena won this Thursday in the seventh stage of the Vuelta a Colombia, which was disputed between Mariquita and Alro del vino, over 140 kilometers.

Cristian Rico kept the leader’s jersey, despite having given ground in the last five kilometers with Hernando Bohórquez, who is now second overall.

Fabio Duarte was another of the great figures of the day, because from the pass through La Vega he launched a fierce attack and at the finish line he managed to discount important time to get closer to the general classification.

“From the first port they hit him hard. There came a time when those who were with me stared and I started”, Cadena declared at the end of the stage.

“I tried, I left, but in the end Heiner Parra, my partner, told me that if I was healthy I would leave and that’s what I did,” added the winner of the fraction.

Bohórquez got closer to the leadership of the Vuelta

In the fight for the general classification, Bohórquez discounted Rico and was 29 seconds behind the lead, while Julian Cardona was third in the general standings, losing 1 min 19 seconds.

Duarte regained ground. The winner of the stage in La Unión is already fourth in the general classification and was 1 min 30 sec behind.

This Friday the eighth fraction will take place between Sopórtales and Somondoco, 96 kilometers long.
