Vox gets involved with bear attacks: “They kill because they are not well educated by their mothers”

A non-legal proposal (PNL) presented by the Aragonese PSOE to help ranchers affected by bear attacks in the Pyrenees has generated the most relaxed moment of the plenary session of the autonomous Cortes this Thursday, with a Vox deputy explaining to the rest of parliamentarians that these animals kill sheep because they are not educated “by their mothers.”

It all started when the PAR spokesperson, Alberto Izquierdo, wanted to respond to the Vox deputy, who had indicated in his first intervention that he had spoken with the ranchers about this issue. “Now we realize that bears attack livestock. Of course, they don’t eat flowers. It seems unbelievable, I am amazed,” said the Aragonista.

But, in his response, the extreme right deputy has left everyone baffled. “There are things that you don’t know, perhaps for that reason, because you don’t talk to the ranchers,” Juan Vidal started, ignoring the fact that the PAR spokesperson is precisely a farmer and rancher by profession.

And he continued: “This type of bear not only kills to eat, it kills… because it does not have an education through its mother. Because it is a bear imposed on the Pyrenees, and you don’t know that, Mr. Izquierdo. This type of bear kills sheep… and also attacks sheep combs (sic), honey farms. And at the rate we continue, it will end up killing hikers, who are confident that these types of bears kill only to eat.” “You are very wrong,” he concluded.

Twitter user Alberto Alcaine has echoed the controversy, which he linked to an episode of “Oregón Televisión”, the comedy program on Aragón TV.

The PNL presented by the socialists has been approved by the entire parliamentary arc. It calls for “improving the system of payments to livestock farmers for damage caused by bear attacks in the Pyrenees”, “expanding support for livestock farms” in matters of prevention and mitigation of attacks, carrying out “better measures, own, for the prevention and mitigation of attacks in mountain pasture areas”, such as investments in infrastructure or advancing in the control of the specimens “including geolocation of the presence of plantigrades.” Also improve the amount of compensation to ranchers.
