The market context is not the best, with Europe at -25.2% and Italy close to -33% in September, yet the Volkswagen Group can smile by looking at the registration data for electric cars. The Wolfsburg giant was in fact able to set a new record for BEVs in the third quarter of the year, doubling the deliveries of 100% electric cars with a + 109% compared to the previous year e 122,100 units sold in Q3.
As for the January-September period, deliveries of electric cars are equivalent to 293,100 units, more than double compared to the same period of the previous year (+ 138%). Considering the deliveries of 100% electric vehicles by region, Europe it is still clearly in the lead, with 209,800 vehicles (corresponding to 72% of the total) in the January-September period. Here the Group led the BEV market, with a market share of around 26%. In the United States, the Group delivered 27,300 BEVs, representing 9% of global deliveries. Thanks to these numbers, the Group has obtained a market share of approximately 8% in the 100% electric vehicle segment and ranked second. In China, in the first nine months of the year, 47,200 BEVs were delivered, which corresponds to 16% of the Group’s BEV deliveries globally. Between January and September Volkswagen, the main brand, delivered 167,800 BEVs to customers (57% of the Group’s total), followed by Audi with 52,800 units (18%), Škoda with 32,100 units (11%), Porsche with 28,600 units (10 %) and Seat with 8,800 vehicles (3% share). From the model point of view, the Volkswagen ID.4 with 72,700 units sold, followed by ID.3 with 52,700 units, Audi e-tron with 36,100 units, Porsche Taycan with 28,600 units and finally Skoda Enyaq iV with 28,200 units.
