Everything is ready for the second stage at the Misano World Circuit, which will host the Grand Prix of Made in Italy and Emilia Romagna, a home event for Aprilia as well. The manufacturer from Noale is back with a complete line-up and also adds a third bike for the home race, which will be the last of this season before the two final rounds.
On the track we will find Maverick Vinales, absent three weeks ago in Austin to find peace of mind after the tragic death of his cousin Dean Berta Vinales, who died during the Supersport 300 race last month in Jerez. The Spaniard returns to wearing a suit and helmet after a period of stoppage in which he gave space to his family and does so on the Misano track, where he had carried out his first tests on the RS-GP with Aprilia.
The conditions will certainly be different compared to the tests, but the data collected could be useful and Vinales is excited to get back to racing and to do it right in Misano: “Returning to the race at Misano is special for me, here I tried the RS-GP and my story with Aprilia began. The temperatures will be lower than on the first date on this track, a factor that I want to exploit because it allows me to use a softer compound on the front. I can’t wait to get back on the saddle to continue our growth, we have great potential and many things to try to build our performance lap after lap ”.
The data collected are also fundamental for Lorenzo Savadori, the starting rider this year until the injury and the following substitution with Maverick Vinales. The Italian rider returns to compete after recovering from the injury and does so on his home track, participating as a wild card. Savadori has not yet regained full form, but the Emilia Romagna GP will be one more step both towards recovery and towards development work by Aprilia, which has shown great growth.
“I really want to get back on the bike to compete – says Savadori on the eve of Misano – I can’t say I’m still 100% physically but the situation has definitely improved, the home crowd will certainly give me further motivation. We have a lot to work on, on a track that we know well and that we will face in unusual conditions compared to what we are used to ”.
The growth shown was made concrete by Aleix Espargaro, who at the moment is the top rider at Aprilia and the one who has collected the most important results. As for Vinales and Savadori, the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna will also be an important appointment for the Catalan. In fact, at Misano he will want to confirm once again the great growth of the RS-GP and is heading towards the last part of the season with the desire to prove how concrete these improvements are.
“I arrive at Misano with decidedly positive sensations – declares Espargaro – During the first race and especially in the tests that followed it, we made important steps forward by improving all the characteristics of the RS-GP. We had time to recover our energies after the GP in Texas and I am ready to face this season finale in the best possible way ”.
