Vetusta Morla, La La Love, León Benavente, Sexy Zebras, Amatria and the Murcian group Glas are part of the cast of 25 bands that will premiere the Fortaleza Sound indie music festival. It will be held from June 28 to 30 with the expectation of generating thousands of overnight stays and filling the accommodations in Lorca and the region on those dates. The festival was presented this Friday in Plaza Arcoíris by the Minister of Culture, Carmen Conesa; the mayor, Fulgencio Gil, for the music promoters and for hoteliers.
The main stage of Fortaleza Sound will be installed in the Huerto de la Rueda, where attendees will be able to enjoy from the afternoon until dawn the performance of the most important artists on the national scene after paying a subscription, although on the 30th access to the enclosure will be free. The daytime performances that will take place on the 28th and 29th on the additional stage that will be installed in the Plaza de España will also be free. In addition, it will be an inclusive event, with concerts interpreted in sign language and areas enabled for people with reduced mobility.
The first-class festival will have a public-private investment of more than one million euros and the forecasts are that around 10,000 attendees will attend daily from different parts of the country. This “will generate a significant economic impact on the municipality” and will be “a crucial step in the consolidation of Lorca as a first-class cultural destination,” said the mayor, who recalled that the objective is to become a “city of festivals, with an annual calendar of musical events, dance, theater and avant-garde exhibitions.
The counselor highlighted that Lorca joins the set of benchmark festivals that are held each year in the Autonomous Community and stressed that 2023 will be a “historic year for festival tourism”, with more than 130 days of music, 350,000 attendees at shows organized by private promoters in the Region and an economic impact that will exceed 43 million euros. She added that these figures demonstrate that the “festival product is a true economic engine capable of reducing seasonality and boosting the local economy.”
After the presentation of the festival and to vindicate the commitment to Murcian talent, the Plaza Arcoíris hosted a live performance by Glas and free tickets for Fortaleza Sound were raffled among attendees. The first tickets will be sold at a reduced price and each month the names of more groups that will be part of the lineup will be known.
