Max Verstappen has won the Grand Prix in the American city of Austin. On the circuit in the state of Texas, the Dutch driver was just a little faster than his rival Lewis Hamilton. Thanks to his win, Verstappen is four points extra on Hamilton in the World Cup standings: his lead now amounts to twelve points.
The Red Bull driver started the race in Austin from pole position but was soon overtaken by Hamilton. However, some clever pit stops ensured that Verstappen managed to pass the Mercedes driver. Although Hamilton came closer and closer towards the end of the race, he was unable to overtake the Dutchman. “Sometimes it’s good to drive aggressively,” said Verstappen over the on-board radio shortly after his win.
It is Verstappen’s first win in Austin and the eighth Grand Prix he conquers this season. Five more Grands Prix will be held this Formula 1 season, with the next one in two weeks in Mexico.
