Max Verstappen, the Red Bull Team driver, achieved the best time today, “Friday”, in the first free practice, for the Grand Prix scheduled in Abu Dhabi, tomorrow, “Sunday”, at the conclusion of the Formula 1 World Championship, by more than 3.0. A second in front of defending champion Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes driver.
Verstappen achieved the best lap time on the 5281-meter “Yas Circuit” track, recording one minute 009. 25 seconds.
Hamilton was third, 346.0sec behind Verstappen, while Mercedes team mate Valtteri Bottas was second, 196.0sec behind Verstappen.
Verstappen and Hamilton share the lead in the drivers’ standings in the world championship after 212 races, knowing that Verstappen is ahead of Hamilton by one victory.
In the race, Hamilton is looking to win his eighth world championship to set a record in Formula 1, while Verstappen hopes to win the world championship for the first time in his career, which will be the first title for Red Bull since 2013.
It should be noted that Hamilton has won the Abu Dhabi race five times, while Verstappen won it last season.
