Politicians are considering building a new Pasila primary school and kindergarten in the Ratapihakortteli.
Pasilan A primary school and kindergarten for a total of 1,200 children are now being planned in the Yard Quarters north of the Tripla shopping center.
At its meeting next week, the Helsinki Board of Education will discuss a project plan for the new premises of Pasila Primary School for a thousand schoolchildren and a kindergarten for 200 children. The plan is finally decided by the council.
The specialty of the school building is its yard. The kindergarten’s yard is made on a neighboring plot, but schoolchildren spend their breaks on the roof of the lower part of the building.
Construction will cost about 57 million euros. The school is created between Tulistimenkatu and Halkopiipi rock.
The actual construction work is scheduled to begin next fall, when the school would be completed by the end of 2024.
The building is 10,370 apartment square meters in size and is expected to last for the next hundred years.

Current Pasila Primary School operates at three different addresses, ie on the west side of the track at Maistraatintori and on the east side at Savonkatu 2 and 4. The facilities are partly old-fashioned and would become cramped for children and young people as the population of Pasila increases with construction.
Pasila Primary School will move to a completely new school building, but Savonkatu 2 will still be used by the education and training industry.
Some of the new school’s teaching facilities and sports facilities are used by city residents in the evenings for various hobbies, for example.
When a new building is being built so hard in Pasila, such a large school building alone is not enough. North Pasila is also planning its own school and kindergarten for a total of a thousand children. In addition, the replacement building for kindergarten Fredriksberg and kindergarten Herta will bring kindergarten places for about 200 children.
